Transport research sought
PA Wellington The road transport industry has called on the Government to form a transport research association, according to a statement.
A deputation representing truck, bus, rental car, and taxi operators called on the Minister of Science (Mr Birch) on Thursday, it said. The president of the Federated Road Transport Organisations (Mr R. R. Forward) said it was proposed that the scope be limited to road transport initially. Road transport contributions would be collected by a compulsory levy linked to certificate of fitness fees.
“We have stipulated a S4M ceiling on the research levy being prescribed in the levy legislation,” Mr Forward said.
