Easy Melbourne market
With the Sydney market closed for Bank Holiday, trading got off to a dull start on the Melbourne Stock Exchange yesterday; oil and gas explorers were cut backs sharply. Esperance, which fell 30c on Friday, was marked back a further 30c to 400 c after sales down to 350 c. Its partner, Greenvale, weakened 19c to 330 c. AOG had sales at 240 c for a loss of 15c, Basin came back a similar amount to 130 c, Woodside fell a further 5c to 265 c after last week’s big losses, and Strata was 20c lower at 205 c. On the brighter side Crusader moved ahead ,20c to 400 c on news of an oil flow from its Thomby Creek No. 2 well. .'Among the - Ashton dia-
mond partners CRA did well early with a 10c rise to 540 c before closing unchanged.
Ashton was 7c easier at 265 c but Northern Mining, which has announced a one-for-ten premium issue,, remained steady at 260 c. Industrials were firm, with 50 rises to 41 falls.
The strong upward movement in CSR shares halted — the stock dipping 14c to 732 c. BHP was 5c easier at 1495 c.
Monier rose 15c to 190 c, and ' CBA edged up 2c to 260 c. • . . '
