Industrial Chemicals will try harder
PA Auckland Sales of Industrial Chemicals (NZ) Ltd, for the quarter ended June 30 were ahead of the same 1979 period, but slightly below forecast, the chairman (Mr A. M. Hughes) told the annual meeting. “The first quarter, however, does not show any clear pattern,” he said, “and I am optimistic that with continued hard work and the investigation of new products our average growth will continue.” The 10 per cent sales tax on polishes announced in the Budget was of particular concern to the company.
I It includes such goods as metal polishes, grinding components, furniture, floor and footwear creams and polishes, laundry bleaches, soaps and whitening, and cleansing preparations. These goods accounted for a very high percentage of • the company’s products, said Mr Hughes. Before the budget they were exempt from tax. ! In spite of the increases, Industrial Chemicals would try to boost efficiency again, , he said.
