Ore contracts extended

Hamersley Holdings, Ltd, and the Japanese, steel industry signed agreements in Tokyo extending two long term iron ore contracts by two years until March, 1982. The two sides reached basic agreement last March on the extension, which covers annual shipments of 4.1 million tonnes under the Nd. 2 contract and 1.5 million tonnes under the No. 3 contract.

The two agreements account for a quarter of the 23 million tonnes a year covered by Hamersley’s four long term contracts with the Japanese. ______________
