Amalgamation proposals
Sir, — While other benefits from amalgamation mainly concern the local body administrators, the ratepayers’ main interests are economic. Can amalgamation achieve economies? The only claim to this is the quoted statement of “possible savings, of up to 5100,000.” By the council’s own admission, no figures of savings have been . checked out Therefore, to use any figure is, in my opinion, misleading, and mischievious. — Yours, etc.,' G. E. KOLLER. August 1, 1980.
