Engineers elect new union head

PA Auckland Mr E. W. J. Ball, secretary of the Auckland branch of the Engineers’ Union has been elected national secretary, He replaces Mr J. A. Boomer, who recently announced his retirement from the secretaryship of the union, which is the biggest private-sector union in New Zealand.

Mr Boomer, who is also vice-president of the Federation of Labour, has been made a life member of the union and has been nominated by it to fill a vacancy on the bench of he Arbitration Court.
