Big Japanese loan
NZPA-Reuter Tokyo The New Zealand Government signed a general agreement in Tokyo yesterday with the semiofficial Export-Import Bank of Japan to receive a loan of uo to six billion yen (SNZ26.6G million) from a Japanese banking syndicate. The Japanese bank said
that loan terms were yet to be fixed but the money would be used to finance New Zealand’s imports of electronic switching systems and related services from Japan. About 140,000 telephone circuits will be installed under the present five-year plan to modernise New Zealand’s telephone network.
