F.O.L. doubts
PA Wellington The optimism of the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) that the deadlock in the wages policy talks could be broken at a meeting early next week was not echoed last evening by the Federation of Labour. The F.O.L.’s president (Mr W. J. Knox) repeated that repeal of the Remuneration Act was the main concern. Four points had been put to the Cabinet meeting yesterday and the F.O.L. had had no official reply from Mr Muldoon, Mr Knox said. , He said he was not ante • to say what were the other • points at issue. i In . the meantime, nego-
tiation for the general drivers’ award would start today. A delegation from the Drivers’ Federation had been to see the F.O.L.’s executive yesterday and had been assured that there would be no interference with the talks. “It is too late to do that,” Mr Knox said. . As well as the Remuneration Act, another issue causing problems is the differing views of employers and the F.O.L. on industry groupings both in terms of the number and the possible problems they could cause with relativities and margins for skill.
