Mr Max Harvey buys Captain Padero
The splendid two-year-old, Captain Padero (lower), lias been purchased at a substantial price by Mr Max Harvey, of Auckland. The son of El Patron and Lady Padero, will go
north in about a fortnight and join the Clevedon team of Roy and Barry Purdon and be prepared for important classic events. Captain Padero had 11 starts from Trevor Thomas’s Belfast team and gained three wins and
seven placings for $11,465 in stakes. His principal win was in the New Zealand Welcome Stakes when he equalled the race record of 2min 36.1 s for 2000 m from a standing start Captain .Padero was raced by Mr and Mrs Her-
man Jansen, of Christchurch. Captain Padero rejoined Thomas’s team yesterday and is to be jogged until he goes north. His sale was negotiated by Mr Sid Wilson, of Wrightson Bloodstock, Ltd.
