Sailing gold to Spaniards

Alejandro Abascal and Miguel Noguer, of Spain, took the first gold medal of the Olympic regatta in Tallinn with an easy win in the sixth race of the Flying Dutchman class.
The result gave the Spanish crew an unbeatable points lead ahead of their naerest challengers, David Wilkins and James Wilkinson, of Ireland. The seventh and final race today will decide the silver and bronze medals.
In the Tornado event, Alexandre Welter, of Brazil, won the gold medal. Peter Due, of Denmark,: won the silver, and Goran Marstrom, of Sweden, the bronze.
The Finn gold was won, appropriately, by Esko Rechardt, of Finland. The bronze went to Wolfgang Mayrhofer, of Austria, and Jochen Schumann, of East Germany, took the bronze. Brazil won its second sail= ing gold when Marcos Soares triumphed in the 470 class.
Jorn Borowski, of East Germany, won the silver medal, and Leon Wrobel, of Poland, the bronze.
