Model wins title

“I’m feeling really happy and so proud that I can represent Canterbury in the ‘Miss New Zealand’ Contest,” said the new “Miss Canterbury,” Miss Carol Meyer, last evening. Miss Meyer, aged 21, has worked for the last four months, as a house model for Olag Enterprises, Ltd, modelling clothes for buyers. She comes from Ladbrooks, near Lincoln, and went to Lincoln High School, worked as a model, then worked for two years in Sydney as a jeweL lery consultant.

Her interests include sports such as squash and tennis, sketching and, of course, modelling, her chosen career.

Miss Meyer was picked with 11 others as a finalist last Wednesday. She will go on to the “Miss New Zealand” contest in Dunedin on August 9. Her prizes last evening included a chair, a silver plate, flowers, perfume, and towels;
