Remand to hospital

A woman was charged with attempted murder at a special sitting of the District Court in Christchurch at 5 p.m. yesterday. . On the application of Detective Inspector R. G. McMeeking. Judge Frampton remanded the woman to Sunnyside Hospital for a psychiatric examination under section 398 of the Criminal Justice Act. She will appear in court again on August 22. Counsel (Mr C. M. Marshall) successfully, applied for interim suppression of the name of the accused. The woman, wearing a blue dressing gown, was escorted into the No. 1 courtroom by a policewoman and a nurse. She was allowed to remain seated during the hearing, which lasted only three minutes.
