Oil use down
Britain used 14 per cent less petroleum in the three months March to May than in the same period of last year, according to provisional figures published by the Department of Energy—an encouraging trend even if it does reflect a developing economic recession. The country used a total of 20.9 million tonnes of oil during this period compared with indigenous production amounting to 20.0 million tonnes. That production represented an increase of 8 per cent. —London. .
