Hostellers’ conference
’ Christchurch will be host to the thirty-third International Youth Hostel Federation conference between August 25 and 28. This will be the first time the world conference has been held in the Southern Hemisphere, It will be at the University of Canterbury’. With the introduction of a weekly direct flight between Japan and Auckland, the Youth Hostels Association of New Zealand has printed 5000 copies of its ski-hos-telling pamphlet in Japanese. The copies have been distributed through Air New Zealand’s Japanese outlets 'and the Japan Youth Hostel. More than 27 million overnight stays were recorded in hostels throughout the world last year.
