Close' finishes. were the order of the day at the Radio Avon kart race day at the Carrs Road raceway last Sunday. There were ; a number of spectacular collisions. In the 125 c?c. 'gearbox race. Bob McWhtnnie and David Kircher tangled entering the main straight and both karts skidded off the track. in the' next race,; Stephen Jones’s kart touched wheels with another , kart and Jones was thrown in the air, but suffered no major injury. A big tangle occurred in the third heat and a former top speedway rider, Allan Brown, rolled from his kart but wag not injured. ’ A brlliant start enabled Doug Drake to beat 25 other drivers: in the Le Mans race. John Crawford crashed into another kart when in hot pursuit and that allowed -"Roy McLauchlan and John Hamilton to fill the minor I placings. ■ However, Hamilton, made amends by winning the Gee Memorial and Radio Avon] featurerwith ease. 'y Christopher Emms won the
