$5000 gift
. The Christchurch City Council has designated $5OOO towards the running in Christchurch next year of a joint conference of "the Australian New Zealand Library Association. More than 1500 delegates are expected to attend the conference in January. It is the first joint conference-of its type to be held in Christchurch. A civic reception will be held for the delegates at the Student Union, Ham, on January 18. This will cost about $7OOO. The Waimairi County Council will pay $l5OO ' towards this and Paparua County Council $BOO, leaving a balance for the Christchurch City Council of about $5OOO.
