21 workers redundant
.Twenty-one brush and broom production workers were given four weeks’ notice of . redundancy last Friday, ' They are employed at the factory of Bunting and Company, Ltd, which was taken over recently by Salmond Industries, Ltd, through its subsidiary. Talus Brushware, Ltd, of Levin. It is believed that the redundancies are the result of rationalisation moves by the parent company, but a director, Mr R. B. Fletcher, declined to confirm the redundancies. The workers are members of the. Christchurch Furniture Trades Union but have their own award.
