Two life sentences
NZPA-Reuter Santa Ana, California A Californian judge sentenced Cesar Acosta to life imprisonment, then married Acosta and his bride. Acosta was sentenced to life plus 16 years, without parole, for a spree of crime last year during which he shot and killed a bar owner. Judge Jerrold Oliver, who pronounced sentence, presided a few minutes later over an exchange of wedding . vows in his courtroom between Acosta, aged 31, and Hilda Segeda. . The ceremony was not legally binding’ because Acosta had failed to obtain a marriage licence, but a defence attorney
said he would get one in the next few days. . Acosta then went back to jail and the tearful bride went home to her mother. '
