More specialists
PA Wellington Fifteen more specialist reading teachers will be appointed, according to the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington). The positions would be established in a planned programme, five of the appointees starting work this September, he said. “They will strengthen the help already given to these pupils by the 28 specialist teachers now providing this
service. Each teacher will work with the class teachers in a selected group of schools in helping individual pupils who are poor readers In this way they will help class teachers to improve their own skill in teaching reading,” Mr Wellington said. The five positions established in September will be followed by a further five in February, 1982, and five more in February, 1983.
