Music contest hopes
Two Christchurch groups have: reached the, ■final - of the 1980 School Music Contest, sponsored by the Bank of New. South Wales.
Both groups are from Christchurch Boys’ High School. The school’s string orchestra, will . contest the final of the large group sec-: tibn ; with "the ■ King’s Spri-J nger.cfrom King’s College; Auckland.
I The Altfora Peto Trio will play in the. final of the small group section against three other groups, from Wellington,. Timaru, and Auckland. . ,,■ The finals will be held in Wellington, on August 10, when the national judge will be Sir David Willcocks, director of the Royal College of-Music,- England.. ■ j More than 2000 New Zealand‘students participated in the 12 district finals of the) music contest.
