Canterbury buyers pay top price

Canterbury buyers paid the top price at the national sale of Shorthorn bulls at Palmerston North.

The top price of $5500 was paid by P. R. Jebson, of Sheffield, and Mrs I. M. Phillips, of Homebush, for an outstanding entry from K, B. Morton, of Katikati. M. H. and J. G. Wells, of Oxford, also paid $3OOO for a bull.

The highlight of the sale was the record average of $2347, which was $876 ahead of last year’s average. The quality of the entry was considered to be the best yet seen at a national sale.

The champion bull was entered by Ody Bros, of Whangarei, who also won the KilSmr Cup for the best pen of ree bulls. The champion was sold for $4OOO.
