Upset win
PA Gisborne Poverty Bay caused an upset when- it defeated Hawke’s Bay, 11-4, in a nonchampionship rugby match at Gisborne on Saturday. The Poverty Bay ■. No. 8 forward, Nick Frankish, had a dream debut, scoring both Poverty Bay tries from identical moves off the back of the scrum. The home team stayed ahead 8-0 until the twelfth minute of the second half, when Hawke’s Bay’s Craig Shapland gave his team a deserved try. . However, a penalty kick by the fullback, Gary Muir, three minutes from full-time sealed up the game for Poverty Bay.
