NZPA London < Three “skinhead”- heroes 1 of a train crash have been 1 rewarded at a glittering re- t ception — after their chauf- I feured limousine paused at a ' police station for one of t them to make his daily report. ' Joe Plebanowicz, aged 18, on bail on a charge of assaulting the police, caused the slight delay while en . route to London’s County Hall with Alan Martin, aged 20, and Steve Skingle, aged 17.; All three were being < honoured for their part in ( helping to get the driver and { passengers out of a crashed . underground train. , j Arriving at the hall the ; skinhead trio were met by demonstrators protesting at i the .$23-a-head reception. I Highlight of the evening was a presentation by the Greater London Council
chairman (Mr Bernard Brooke Partridge) of a carton to the lads containing beef pie mash, a liqueur, and a cheque for $l2O from an 80-year-old woman who wanted to acknowledge their bravery. And another skinhead, Chris Shinners, paid a spe-| cial tribute to the Queen Mother yesterday. He had al Union Jack tattooed on his arm and proudly displayed it to the royal grandmother to mark her eightieth birthday. ' . > ’ The Queen Mother, who was touring some of London’s suburbs, seemed interested when Chris, aged 18. greeted her at Clapham and said: “take a look at this. I had it done specially for you,” When “Clapham Skin” Chris told her it had cost $42 for the two-hour tattoo job. she told him she thought it was rather expensive. . '
