NZPA Edinburgh The veteran New Zealand left-hand golfer, Bpb Charles, had a modest start in the British Open golf championship at Muirfield early this morning (N.Z. time). Charles shot a. three-overepar 75. « Best of the early finishers
were Nick Faldo and Glenn Ralph, both of Britain, who botn’ shot 69. Two of the favourites for the Open title, Tom Weiskopf and Jack Nicklaus, both of the United States, had a 72 and a 73 respectively. Greg Norman, of Australia, had a first-round 74.
