Erebus musical memorial
PA - Ashburton ARakala man has ;Written a memorial musical composition on the Mount Erebus disaster. '; Mr G. K. Murrow calls -his . composition “The Mount Erebus Memorial” and is taking steps to make it available to? the relatives of the disaster victims. He said the piece is designated a largo, meaning a placid, smooth composition. “I suppose you could say it is to soothe the distress of others. That was the intention,” he said. He was prompted to write the music because a
relative was among those killed when the DCIO aircraft crashed. “I am not saying the music is perfect, but at least it is something, Murrow said. “The mood is sombre but it is not morbid.” Although he had finished the music by the end of January, it lay partly forgotten until the Commission of Inquiry into the disaster first met. Mr Murrow will' write to the commission in the hope that the legal representatives of the victims’ families can be reached, and the music offered to .■ them. .
