Magnificent stage win
NZPA Prapoutel, France Ludo Loos, of Belgium, yesterday won the eighteenth stage of the Tour de France cycling race, pounding his way through the 196 km rigorous ride out of the Alps about five minutes ahead of the pack. Joop Zoetemelk, of the
Netherlands, stayed with the leading riders as they worked up five steep climbs to conserve his place as the over-all tour leader. For the 25-year-old Loos, competing in his first tour, it was a magnificent win, leading the, seasoned pros by almost 12 minutes at one point.
