NZPA-Reuter Moscow A Spanish industrialist and diplomat, Mr Juan An : tonio Samaranch, was elected the new president of the International Olympic Committee early today (N.Z. time),-' committee sources said. Mr Samaranch, aged 60 today, was elected' on the ‘first ballot to find a replacement for Lord Killanin, who has led the 1.0. C. ; for eight years. Among other candidates were Mr Lance Cross, of New Zealand, who withdrew at the eleventh hour.
