Ready for carnival
By J. J. BOYLE Freda White, en enthusiast for the jumper, is one of the first of the North Islanders on station for the Riccarton winter carnival. For a change, her colourbearer at Riccarton • this time will be a rising thrce-year-old, El Toro. A big fellow by Alvaro, El Toro was foaled by a halfsister to Teak, an outstanding winner over country in Miss White’s colours. El Toro has not yet raced but is entered for the Haldon Stakes at the Christchurch Hunt Club meeting next week.
