Impressive display despite weather

The bad weather last week-end did not detract from an impressive display by the Canterbury junior representative soccer teams in the annual Canterbury Day event at Rangiora. The under-11 side provided the first upset result of the day when it beat the under-12 regional side, 3-2. | Stephen O’Connor, Stephen 'Adams and Michael Sayers, with a fine lobbed shot, were the under-11 goal scorers. Shane Hoanl and Michael Forgie scored for the under-12 team. The under-13 team was too big and fast for the under-12 national tournament team, winning 6-0. Grant van Dalstim scored three times, Graeme Fennessey, Ryan Sharkey and Mark* Oorschott once each. i

Although well beaten, the under-12 side gave a determined performance, with Lee Germon and Vince Le Huray defending tigerishly, and John-Pierre Andre in the midfield worked hard.
