Officials sacked
The South Korean Government has said that 232 senior public officials, including a Cabinet Minister, six ViceMinisters. and three provincial governors, have been sacked on suspicion of corruption and other irregularities. A statement from the Special Committee for National Security Measures, a military-dominated body co-ordinating policies of martial law authorities and the civilian Cabinet, however, gave the names of only 15 people it said were under investigation to answer possible criminal charges. — Seoul.
