Week for conservation
A play by primaryschool children, educational programmes in the Botanic Gardens, colouring competitions, . a “living workshop,” and projects at Ferrymead are some of the activities planned for Conservation Week starting on August 1. Other activities will include a walk on the Port Hills, displays in shops and banks, Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society fund-raising, a speech contest for secondary schools, and projects for girl guides and scouts, according to the Conservation Week campaign committee. The committee wants to hear from all groups involved •in conservation activities with a view to pub licising such activities during Conservation Week. The committee’s secretary, Mrs Maureen Hoare, may be reached at the Department of Lands and Survey.
