Union fears rejected
The Government has rejected claims by the South Island Motion Picture Projectionists’ Union that delicensing of exhibitors could lead to lower standards and a loss of job opportunities.
Replying to the union’s letter of June 6, the Parliamentary Under-Secre-tary to the. Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Comber) said the Government’s policy was to develop free and open competition and remove any restrictions. The union’s secretary (Mr T. Smith) said that the letter would be referred to the union’s executive.
