Italians relax at Nelson
PA Nelson The Italian rugby tourists had a relaxing day yesterday as a build-up to their first rugby match in New Zealand, against Nelson Bays at Trafalgar Park today.
The training session con-, sisted mainly of exercises, I with a brief run through team moves. After lunch, which includ’d spaghetti, most of the team went out to a pizza parlour at Richmond. They tried their hand at catching pizzas, then ate the cooked product. ; While in Nelson, their | main meal at night has been ■ Italian-style food prepared; by an Italian cook, Mr Peter;
Rocci, lent to the hotel by Codelfa Cogefar N.Z., Lid, the tunneling company at the Tongariro power project. Nelsonians are confident that their team will provide stiff opposition for the Italians.
; Nelson Bays have won both their national league s e c o n d-division games, against Marlborough and Buller, and also beat a Japanese under-23 team. Nelson’s strength is in the forwards, but the loose forwards will have to work hard to stop the Italians running the ball, as they have promised they will, and showed they can do at practice.
