Anniversary celebrated
The 200th anniversary of the Sunday School movement will be celebrated throughout the world this year.
The first Sunday School was set up in Gloucester, England, in 1780 b\ a newspaper editor, Robert Raikes. It was for “ragged” children and taught elementary subjects as well as Bible knowledge.
Several Sunday Schools in Christchurch plan activities to celebrate the anniversary. ■
