Car in river
A man escaped uninjured after the car he was driving plunged into the Heathcote River and overturned near the junction of McKenzie Avenue and Richardson Terrace, at 10.30 p.m. yesterday. The man was later required by the police to give a breath test. '
A car which was stolen from Lyttelton early last evening was later found burning on the Summit Road.
The Austin 1800 car, owned by a Woolston man, was extensively damaged in the blaze. A fire engine from the Woolston station was called to the scene at 9.30 p.m.
