Concern at release

PA Wellington The Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McLachlan) said last evening that the release of the DCIO crash report was in accord with normal practice after any air accident.

He said that counsel assisting the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the crash had expressed con-

cern that the release of the report and the manner of its treatment by the news media might be understood as suggesting prejudice to the work of the Royal Commission. “Counsel emphasised that the Royal Commission would act on the evidence before it and on that alone,” Mr McLachlan said. a “I hope the news media will bear this in mind when publishing the report.”
