Swingers for Australia

The Auckland-based rock band, The Swingers, are to cross the Tasman to play support for a fiveweek tour of Australia by the Sports. According to the drummer, Buster Stiggs, the tour?-with the Sports, one of Australia’s top groups, could only do the Swing-ers-good, . . , „ The tour involves 25 concerts — “that we know of so far” — in a ■ lot of places that are usually starved for music, he says. While in Australia the band will record a single with David Tickle, who masterminded “True Colours” by Split Enz, on the Mushroom label. After the
tour there are plans to attempt an album. The television clip of the single, “One Good Reason,” will, also be shown in Australia, but the single would not be released there. “One good reason why the single is not being released in Australia is that the production is; not good enough,” Buster Stiggs says. The band is looking forward to playing in Australia. Mi-Sex toured the United States, Canada, and Australia, and had considered the latter to be the best to perform in, he adds. The Swingers are opening the Mi-Sex concerts in New' Zealand which included the show in Christchurch last Sunday evening, and return to Christchurch for a further stretch at the Hillsborough Tavern next week.
