Request for N.Z. teachers

PA Wellington ? The Education Department is calling for.: teachers interested in teaching in China for 12-week periods. The June issue of the “Education Gazette” asks teachers interested in teaching English in China to apply to the Director of International Education by mid-July. Successful applicants will be organised into teams of at least three and will leave New Zealand in November.

They will teach secon<l a r y schoolteachers, whose standard of English is not expected to be high. The main emphasis of the courses is to improve reading skills and the understanding of printed matter coming from Western, countries.

‘ Applicants / should be qualified t-achers of English and have some experience of teaching English as a foreign language. Return fares will be paid by the New Zealand Government and the Chinese Government will pay for board and lodgings.
