Indian Sun top Egmont choice

Special correspondent New Plymouth

Although she doesn’t have the record of some of her rivals, Indian Sun. could be the one to beat in the Williams Memorial Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Egmont Racing Club’s meeting at Hawera today. Indian Sun, a daughter of Indian Order, a proven sire of winter performers, has won three races, all on raineffected circuits over a middle distance. Her recent form is not much but she went better at Awapuni on Saturday and another bold run from thej five-year-old seems possible.

There will be considerable support for another five-year-old by Indian Order, Glenayr. A recent Tre ham winner, she hinted a further win was likely when she rattled home for third on flie first day at Awapuni. She has the advantage of racing on her home track. Another in this category with a good chance is Eloop. He is a proven winter galloper likelv’ to mgke his presence felt over the coming weeks.

The proven four-year-olds Uncommon and Tavern Queen will command most pitention in the second leg, fhe Brookdale Handicap. Uncommon competed recently at Ellerslie where

she scored a good win over 1200 m, the distance of todays race. She will have the advantage of a sizeable allowance and this is likely to be a telling factor. RACE 6
