Increased betting in Chch
Unlike one or two North Island clubs which showed a downward trend, the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club enjoyed a very satisfactory second season of oncourse' totalisator betting at Queen Elizabeth II Park. For the. last two seasons, the Christchurch clpb has run >l2 meetings each year. In its first: season of operation, the club had a totalisator turnover of $465,550: the 1979-80 season grossed $546:120 — an increase of $80.570.. c The average • • increase was $7OOO .a ’■ meeting and the club : found that.it was certainly more .profitable to ■ face in the ; evenings. ‘ >:*-• ; .
