Honda Accords to be recalled
PA Wellington All Honda Accords assembled in New Zealand since early 1979 will be recalled to have their brakes checked. Mr G. Wyn, marketing manager for the New Zealand Motor Corporation, said yesterday that about 1400 Accords would be checked : for correct fitting of their; brake hoses. He said that! there was no possibility of ( brake failure in the vehicles,, which are top of the Honda I range. “It is possible that, I in the unlikely event of a motorist driving constantly at full-lock, the brake hose may chafe on the tyre,” he said. “If the brake hose ,did chafe through, the diagonal
dual safety circuit would come into action, eliminating the possibility of brake failure. In one or two instances the brake hoses were not correctly fitted, and we just want to make very sure of the others.” While Accord owners may i'be concerned, the owners of i Fords sold in New Zealand i can rest assured that their I vehicles will not form part (of the gigantic recall of 16 I million Fords, which appears i likely to be ordered by the United States Government. The vehicles concerned are cars and light trucks with ! automatic transmissions, I sold after August, 1972. and II made before October, 1979.
