Another attempt will be! made on Monday to resolve the three-week dispute! which has stopped steel pro-: duction at rhe Glenbrookj mill of New Zealand Steel. | Union and company representatives will meet informally before a Christchurch-; based industrial mediator, Mr Maurice Teen, in Auckland.
Ten bricklayers who reline furnaces and’ dishes in the steel-making plant went on strike last month, after the company refused a claim for a 17.6 c an hour discomfort payment for wearing ear muffs because of noise levels.
Eight days later 130 steel plant production workers were suspended, and on June 5. 10 bricklayers’ labourers were laid off.
