Coast rain warning

Greymouth reporter , West Coast farmers were told by radio last evening to move stock from low-lying ground as a result of forecasts of up to 100 mm of rain. The Westland Catchment Board was issued with, a heavy rain warning by the Meterological Service last evening as an active cold front approached the region.

according to the Press Association. The duty forecaster, Mr R. Lake, said the warning was issued at 6 p.m. telling-the board to expect up to 100 millimetres of rain to fall in the mountains within the next 12 to 18 hours. Mr Lake said that there were likely to be localised thunderstorms and that the coastal regions could expect between 30mm and 50mm of rain.
