Ship dispute settled
PA Auckland The Forum New Zealand dispute, which kept the ship at Auckland all last week, has been settled. It was decided that the South Pacific Forum Line should employ a cargo superintendent at some of its island ports to ease the
workload on the ship deck officers.
The president of the Merchant Service Guild, (Captain J. T. Varney), said the problem had arisen because the ship was working a new type of container service to island ports not fully geared to this type of work.
