Easy win to N.Z.
NZPA Taipei The New Zealand women’s basketball team scored a surprisingly easy 59-32 win over Canada in the world tournament in Taiwan on Thursday evening. Canada gained an early eight-point break, but New Zealand led, 19-16, at halftime. Lyn Pugh, of Napier, topscored with 13 points, only a point more than Canterbury’s Christine Heremaia. Rotorua’s Debbie Smith was in outstanding form, dominating the offensive and defensive rebounds.
