Journalist’s dream

One Australian rugby league journalist, accustomed to the strong competitive nature of sports reporting in Sydney, must be thoroughly enjoying some relaxation from the usual pressures during the Kangaroo tour of New Zealand. Because of a journalists’ strike in Sydney, none of the daily newspapers have been able to send representatives. That will apparently be rectified,

and some hasty travel bookings made, should the strike be resolved within the next week or so. But Australian rugby league followers do not have to rely solely on agency reports. Geoff Prenter, the editor of the mass-circulation “Rugby League Week,” was not affected by the strike and he, accompanied by a photographer, virtually has exclusive rights to the written word of the tour.
