New fishing vessel delayed in port
The 251-ton long-line fishing I vessel Cecilia Trosca, which! arrived at Lyttelton on March -21 for • “about ,30 days” during! which new refrigeration equip-; ment was to .be installed, will, not now leave port until about; June 26. I The vessel was purchased by i Lane, Walker. Rudkin Industries, Ltd and brought to Lyttelton from Norwav. After refitting she ‘will be worked, out of Timaru by an L. W. R. Subsidiary com-; ■ pany, Strathallan Fisheries, Ltd.; Lane Walker Rudkin’s operartions manager, Mr M. A. Stevens, said that the delay at Lyttelton had been caused by “engineering bits and pieces.” The vessel was to have begun, fishing early this month, spending up to 30 days at sea at a i time. and fishing ' at depths to 600 m. The refrigeration , equipment being installed in the vessel will enable her .to, freeze up. to 16 tonnes of fish per day while at sea. Mr Stevens said that most! of her catch would be sold to overseas . markets which ■ had. already been established.’ ; I The cost of the vessel, the ex-!
