Truck over cliff
Greymouth reporter A truck driver was killed when his vehicle fell over a cliff while tipping in the Garvey’s Creek area near Reefton yesterday morning. He was Neville Walter Blight, aged 29, formerly of Ohai, Southland. Contractors are stripping overburden; in the area for an opencast mine, and as the material is cleared, it is loaded on to a truck and tipped down a nearby cliff face. Mr Blight made one of his normal runs about 9.30 a.m. and when he had not returned others went in search of him. The truck was found 80 metres down the cliff face, with, the body of Mr Blight;--who had been thrown out. another 80 metres lower. '
