Many organisations had lodged'protests against the scheme, said the committee’s chairman (Cr N. G, Hattaway). He wondered how the expressway group was different? from the others. .
The Mayor (Mr H. G. Hay) wondered if it would be possible for the residents to pay for “a pretty high-powered line-up of professional talent” for just more than $5OOO. If it was all right for the council to spend money in such a way, Mr Hay wondered if it could come from the annual grants fund for recreation and community development.
