Mount Wellington, the only one of the three leading teams to win at the weekend has moved into a clear lead in tlie Rothmans Soccer League at the half-way stage of the competition. If is the first Sfime this season that the Auckland side has taken the lead. It did so with a comfortable win over Hamilton on Saturday. It is also the first time that the defending champion has scored more than twice in a league game this season. Manurewa dropped a point to Gisborne City in an exciting match af Gisborne watched by more than 3000 spectators, Trans Tours United slipped two points behind Mount Wellington with its loss to Newmans Nelson United in Christchurch but - Rangers gave Christchurch some success by trouncing Dunedin City, 5-1. Stop Out kept alive its hopes of avoiding relegation by beating another likely relegation candidate Blockhouse Bay, in Auckland.Wellington Diamond United ended Hanimex-North Shore’s unbeaten run of five matches in Wellington on Saturday.
